Feelin' like stink-a-hot-mess today but my 13 year old blind Domino was sitting in the mess of a craft room basking in the sun and I had to take his picture... when the sun shines he enjoys it so much because that is the only time his eyes shrink down to normal size!
I ♥ my kitty boy...
This was taken just before Lil' Brutie jumped on him & started a Brutie Battle. :)

I really like adding textures to photos in photoshop... this one added a warm brown hue to a picture that I didn't like all that much before. :) Happy Friday!

I have determined that my life is entirely too uneventful for this project... but I am not giving up!
I just have to spice it up a little... some long drives, short walks, or weekends out and about. Where there's a will there's a way! Until then, there's always kitties. :)

I did not think I was going to get this done today...work, homework, errands, headache, laundry, etc... but look at me go! I was determined so it got done.
My niece gave Naomi a box of old cameras for Christmas. Naomi is a wonderful photographer and Rachel thought she would enjoy them. I think it was kind of hard for her to give them up because she was having so much fun collecting them a few years ago. Maybe she lost interest.
Well, I don't know much about photography or about cameras in general but I picked through that box anyway. Inside was this beautiful "Mamiya Flex." Naomi has a Mamiya medium format camera that takes incredible pictures so I recognized the name, but this is the coolest looking camera! I sat it outside and took a couple shots. I think Scoobs was interested, too.
Happy Day 7 AND happy Friday! :)

Whew... I don't know that I like what I'm posting today but I'm pretty much satisfied to be able to post something! The munchkins and I are rocking kindergarten this week which means we're all working our tails off. But happily doing so!! I came home this afternoon and tried to get pics of kitties. No luck. Went outside with dogbert and tried to get pics of her. Nothing in focus. So, I went with trees and fences. Not much came out great except for this one pic of a tree that is invading our yard through the fence. It's a vicious critter that won't seem to budge despite us taking a chainsaw to it...and that was an adventure for sure!
Anyways, cheers to Day 6!
Dogbert rolling on the ground.... cute as a button but absolutely not in focus. :)

Ok, five days in and I'm frustrated. Camera battery died. Shots I wanted to come out didn't. I spent too much time picking through them on the computer. However, I did get my homework done! Hard to believe, but true!
So here's a gorgeous capiz shell lamp in the dining room. I struggled with the focus and the f/stop and the lighting but here it is... :)

I'm on a roll! I'm finding it difficult to do my other work, but I'm on top of taking pictures! :)
With permission from angel pie's mom, I'm using this photo on my "365 Project" and I'm kind of pleased with it! She was giving me this "ok, I'll be pretty for you" kind of look and it made me smile from the inside out. Thanks, mom for letting me use this photo... your little munchkin is perfectly precious.

So, I've started off on the right foot... I can hardly believe it.
Here's the thing: I never understood why I couldn't work the focus when on manual with my pretty little Canon Rebel XT. I've had it for about 5 years. It's ok, you can laugh. This past week, Bestie and I were taking pictures of my great niece and I wanted to try the manual focus because I've been attempting to learn about f stops and getting the little blurry effect in the background while the focul point is sharp. Well, needless to say after 5 years of having the camera, I can now focus in manual by turning the focus part of the lens... not the zoom part of the lens. Duh! :)
Here's Day 2: a dusty piano with some pretty blurry lights from the Christmas tree in the background. The dust speaks volumes about how little I play and how much I'd like to.

Happy New Year!
I don't do resolutions. I don't follow through because I quickly realize that I'm just setting myself up for failure. "Resolutions are for quitters" we saw on a greeting card somewhere. It is so true. I swear I see the humor in that.
If I resolve to do anything, it's going to be to do more of the things that I love. Paint, draw, teach, write, sing, take pictures, laugh, smile, read, cook, dream... those sorts of easy things that soothe the soul and calm the nerves. That's what I resolve to do: more smiley happy things and to make the most of those smiley happy moments. Sounds simple. It's not going to be.
I've read on blogs and in magazine articles about many different people and their many different artistic projects. One of which is "A Photo a Day for 365 Days." I don't know who started it so I can't give proper credit, but today is the perfect day to start such a project. So, here I go. A photo a day for 365 days.
I realize that I may not complete this project. I must also realize that most of the photos added will either be of random things at home, the furry children, or insanely random snapshots taken on the glorious iPhone of Happiness. However, my goal is to learn more about photography & Photoshop while also getting out of my rut of doing absolutely nothing that I truly love to do.
Maybe next year it will a painting a day...or a movie a day... or I know, I know! A dessert a day. Yeah... I'll resolve to do that for the year that the world is supposed to come to an end.
If it's gonna end in 2012, let's end it with dessert!! :)
Work may get in the way.
School may get in the way.
Lack of motivation may get in the way.
Many photographs may be terrible.
I may not Photoshop all of them.
I will certainly over-process many of them.
I'll probably skip a day or two...or a week or two.
I will probably change the name of my bloggy blog...maybe to "Bloggy Blog."
I may never share my bloggy blog.
Nobody may give a crap-a-doodle.
I do.
Isn't that really all that matters? I talk to myself in my head all the time. :)
Here's to 365 days of doing (and improving) something that I absolutely love.
1. I'm starting off very simple with Doggie Doodle in the Backyard
